My first ever Persian (Iranian) Wedding, with Ellahae & Ahmad being married in the Italian gardens at the very impressive Hatley Castle, Victoria.

After the normal civil ceremony the traditional Persian wedding ceremony took place which I think deserves a bit more explanation. It involved giving each other a finger of honey, lots of nice food and lots of hilarity. Given everything happened in their native tongue I had no idea what was being said, but I got some of the guests to explain it to me afterwards.

Basically the bride is given 3 chances to not marry her man. !

It goes something like this (I’m paraphrasing here) :-

“Will you marry this man?”

….”hmmmm, let me think about it, I’ve got to do my hair tonight”

“Will you marry this man?”

….”Hmmm, don’t know, there’s something on TV I want to watch tonight”

“Will you marry this man?”

…..”Oh I suppose so”

After the fun shoot it was a drive north to their reception at Arbutus Ridge Golf Club.

Yea! I get to stay at home today…well at least local for Vanessa & Simon’s wedding day.

Married at a local church, and then onto the fun shoot at Pipers Lagoon, with their reception at Nanaimo Golf Club.

As I was so excited at staying in Nanaimo I’ve decided to post a few more piccies than normal.

So today the weather gods were kind to me and gave lovely overcast bright weather. And today Kris and Jonathan were married at Fairwinds Golfcourse

We then went to a very windy Madrona point for a fun shoot, and then back to the clubhouse for the reception.
